Wednesday, October 8 - The Global Debt Crisis: Why It’s Worse Than Ever and How We Can Break the Cycle
This webinar will explore the deepening global debt crisis and how it continues to devastate countries in the Global South. Participants will learn about the historical roots of the debt crisis and how current debt structures reinforce inequality and hinder climate and social progress.
Wednesday October 15 - Restoring Justice: Ecological Debt and Canada’s Fair Share
This session will examine the concept of ecological debt and how Canada, as a wealthy nation and historical emitter, bears responsibility for a disproportionate share of the climate crisis. Speakers will explore what it means for Canada to repay its ecological debt by enabling debt cancellation and other policies outlined in Canada’s Fair Shares Platform.
Wednesday October 22 - Time for Global Rules: A case for a UN Framework Convention on Debt
This webinar will present the urgent need for a fair, transparent, and binding international framework to address sovereign debt crises—one that places human rights and ecological justice at the center. Speakers will explore why current mechanisms are unjust and how a UN Framework Convention on Debt could shift power away from private creditors and toward the common good.
Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be available.
