Nine passionate delegates, some from frontline communities, will represent the voices of those most affected by the climate crisis at COP30. They will join both the official UN negotiations (beginning Nov 10) and the People’s Summit (Nov 12–16) to highlight the links between climate, conflict, gender and global debt. KAIROS is delighted to announce Women Peacebuilders at the Nexus of Climate, Conflict and Gender - a new five-year initiative funded by the Government of Canada and KAIROS. Building on decades of partnership, this project empowers women peacebuilders in Colombia, the DRC, South Sudan, Palestine and Canada to confront the intersecting crises of climate change, conflict and gender inequality — advancing justice, resilience and lasting peace for communities most impacted by global instability.

“Security for whom?” we ask in our response to Budget 2025. The federal budget, announced on Tuesday, prioritizes defence, fossil fuel expansion and border enforcement over investments in climate justice, Indigenous self-determination, migrant justice, feminist foreign policy and peacebuilding. We are deeply concerned that this approach increases inequality, neglects care for vulnerable communities and narrows the vision of what true security means.

Temporary pauses in Gaza’s violence are not peace. Civilians remain unprotected, international law is ignored and Canada continues to issue arms permits despite global calls to end complicity. KAIROS urges the government to show moral courage — to impose a full arms embargo, uphold humanitarian law and pursue lasting peace rooted in justice and accountability. Canada must act now.

KAIROS stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities in Ecuador who face militarized repression for defending their territories from resource extraction. We denounce the criminalization of Indigenous leaders and affirm their right to peaceful protest, self-determination and stewardship of the Earth.
