In the lead up to International Women’s Day, we asked KAIROS’ global partners: What does women’s empowerment look like to you? The result: a multitude of inspiring and diverse voices and stories, conveyed in videos, photos and memes. These are examples of tangible and transformative hope, and they speak for themselves.  

Bénédicte arrived in Canada with the same hopes carried by countless migrant women. She sought opportunity, financial security, and a better future for her children. What was promised a stable job, however, quickly became an overwhelming burden of unpaid labour, intense hours, and isolation from the outside world. In the lead up to International Women’s Day, KAIROS’ Leah Shifferaw shares Bénédicte’s story, which epitomizes courage, perseverance, and the ongoing fight for justice.

Let's use this moment to build a Jubilee movement - a decolonial movement of economic and ecological justice.

In the weekend leading up to the G7 Leaders’ Summit, people in Canada and abroad will gather for community, learning, prayer and action. We encourage KAIROS members and local and regional groups to send representatives. KAIROS is pleased to announce a new project for 2025 entitled, Listening to the Land. This project will take place from March 22 to July 5 in Ottawa (unceded Algonquin territory). This interactive workshop series centers on human creativity and empathy as powerful tools to mitigate ecological crisis and repair essential relationships. The series meets at the confluence of the Anishinaabe Medicine Wheel teachings and the Work that Reconnects, developed by Joanna Macy. 

Join the Pilgrimage for the Planet on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. EST for a preview of the Eastern Synod Climate Justice Committee’s bicycle trek from Montreal to Ottawa and how to get involved! With special guests, pilgrimage writer, Rev. Matthew Anderson and eco-theologian, Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat, we will connect the ancient practice of pilgrimage to contemporary care for our planet's climate and ecological systems.

ICYMI – a recording of the Online Forum for Strengthening Voices for a Just Transition, held on February 13, is now available. The forum featured wonderful speakers who shared insights on a just transition and our collective work for an equitable and just future for people and planet.
