The New KBE Model: Spring rollout is underway

There is a lot of amazing work underway as we prepare to roll out the new KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) model late this spring. Here are the latest updates:

Phase 1 Information sessions are complete!

As mentioned last month, we kicked off our Phase 1 implementation and we’re gaining momentum! We’ve completed our information sessions at the end of April and will prepare for the Phase one roll out activities this May. Look out for our next update where we will share more about the Phase 1 roll out activities and how we’ll apply those learnings to our Phase 2 implementation, which commences in July.

For more information about the structure of our Phased implementation plan and who we will engage in each phase, please read here.

Call for candidates for the KBE Indigenous Advisory Circle

A new KBE Indigenous Advisory Circle is being rolled out. This Circle is being formed to provide counsel in support of the new KBE model. The KBE team is actively recruiting to fill seats on this counsel and plans to send out more information, inviting expressions of interest in May. For those who wish to participate, please stay tuned for more details to come.

Spotlight: A New Model for KBE Partnerships

The KBE program wouldn’t be successful without the passion, strength, and deep commitment of its incredible partners. With the new KBE model launching soon, here’s what you need to know about how partnerships will work moving forward:

  • If you are a former or current KBE facilitator or wish to become one, but don’t own a business:

You can join a business or organization that is a licensed KBE partner as a KBE facilitator to lead KBE sessions on behalf of that entity.

  • If you are a former or current KBE facilitator who owns a business and can assemble a KBE-trained facilitation team, you can apply to become a licensed KBE partner.

Submit a request to KAIROS and follow the outlined steps to obtain a KBE license.

Please note: Former or current KBE facilitators who wish to continue facilitating KBE sessions are not considered KBE partners by default. Please refer to the above guidance to determine the best way for you to provide KBE facilitation under the new structure.

This change will be an exciting shift for the new KBE model.  This new approach allows KBE facilitators to work with licensed KBE partners or become a licensed business partner themselves. What’s most exciting is that licensed KBE partners will have the autonomy and flexibility to organize and deliver Indigenous-led sessions within their communities.

More to share in the weeks ahead as we continue to move forward to release of the new KBE model.

Should you have any questions or wish to learn more about the implementation process, please explore our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on our website or reach out to us directly at kbe@kairoscanada.org.

With humility and gratitude,

The KBE Team

Virtual KBE Pin

The Virtual KAIROS Blanket Exercise is equally as engaging, and even more visually impactful with the inclusion of narratives through multimedia.

Specific timelines for new bookings have not yet been established.
New updates will be shared as they become available. Thank you for your patience during this time.

If you have requested an in-person KBE, these are currently available in most regions, or will soon become available. You may switch to a vKBE request from an in-person request in order to secure an earlier date, if that is your preference. If you wish to do this, please reply to the email you receive from our initial response to your request stating this as your preference.

With many thanks for your patience.
