KAIROS IS LIFE, STRUGGLE, SIBLINGHOOD, FRIENDSHIP, IT IS A SPIDER’S WEB THAT IS JOINING FORCES FOR THE DEFENSE OF MOTHER EARTH.

Twenty is an important number in the Mayan culture; when one turns 20, one becomes a complete person (jun winäq)—20 nawales of the Mayan calendar—but at the same time, one must start a new stage in life. It is a time to think about the future and the way forward.

Nine Ix, (July 1, 2021) represents feminine energy and feline energy; it represents women, mother nature, Mother Earth, energy that protects the hills, the plains, and the mountains. This coincides with the work that KAIROS does for climate justice, the defense of the territories of peoples, gender justice, reflections on extractivism, among other topics—in the four cardinal points of our Mother Earth.

Congratulations to KAIROS for uniting struggles for life and joining friendships. I remember my first encounters with the First Nations. I did not know that they existed; it was a great joy to meet them and share unforgettable moments, to be an honorary witness of the process of Truth and Reconciliation brings me much closer to them and allowed me to know them better. We have a lot of resemblance in our cultures and our struggles.
